On Tuesday, the "Nabanna Chalo" rally organized by the "West Bengal Students Society" in Kolkata and Howrah led to significant tension and clashes between protesters and police. The situation escalated as a large number of protesters took to the streets, forcing the police to take stringent measures to maintain order. 126 people, including 103 men and 23 women, were arrested during the unrest.
The clashes resulted in injuries to 15 police personnel, including Sergeant Debashish Chakraborty from the East Division, who was severely injured by a stone thrown by protesters near Babughat. The stone shattered the window of his vehicle and struck his left eye, causing a serious injury. He was rushed to the hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable.
In addition to the injuries, the violence led to the burning of a police vehicle and a police motorcycle near Babughat, further intensifying the situation.
