Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
A 14-year-old girl gave birth to a baby inside a toilet at Sadar Hospital in Jharkhand’s Giridih district on Friday, after which the newborn was found trapped inside the toilet pan. Doctors, hospital staff and police personnel jointly carried out a rescue operation and safely pulled the baby out. Both the minor mother and the newborn were later shifted to the Maternal and Child Hospital at Chaitadih, where they are currently under medical observation.
According to eyewitnesses and hospital officials, the girl was seen coming out of a toilet near the ward area in a distressed condition. Blood stains were noticed inside and outside the washroom, leading people nearby to suspect that a serious incident had taken place. Shortly afterwards, the girl allegedly attempted to leave the hospital premises but collapsed unconscious a short distance away.
Hospital authorities were informed immediately, following which medical staff and police from the local police station reached the spot. During inspection of the toilet, officials discovered the newborn trapped inside the toilet pan. Considering the condition of the infant, doctors, hospital employees and police personnel together conducted a rescue operation and managed to safely remove the baby after significant effort.
An ambulance was arranged immediately after the rescue, and both the mother and child were shifted to the Maternal and Child Hospital at Chaitadih for treatment and observation. Deputy Superintendent of Sadar Hospital Dr. Pradeep Baitha said timely medical attention helped save both lives and confirmed that the condition of the mother and the newborn was stable.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Station House Officer Ratan Kumar Singh said all aspects of the matter were being examined carefully, especially considering the age of the minor girl. Police are also investigating whether the minor may have been subjected to any crime or abuse.
