A wave of panic swept through Bengaluru as 15 schools in the Karnataka capital received bomb threat emails on Friday morning. Authorities, including the city police and bomb squad department, swiftly initiated evacuation protocols, ensuring the safety of students, staff, and faculty.
While the city police suspect the emails to be a hoax, they are actively conducting a thorough investigation to eliminate any potential risks. The bomb squad is currently inspecting school premises for suspicious items, and parents have been advised to pick up their children early as a precautionary measure.
City police, responding to a command center call, immediately dispatched teams to various schools across Bengaluru. As a senior police official emphasized that no suspicious items have been found so far, the situation prima facie appears to be a hoax.
Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara assured the public that all necessary precautions are being taken, highlighting that last year also witnessed similar threats. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah affirmed the ongoing investigation and urged parents not to panic, emphasizing enhanced security measures in schools.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar visited one of the affected schools, stating that while it appears to be a threat, caution is essential in handling such situations.
