A major arms recovery operation was carried out on Monday in Khardaha’s Regent Park area, where 15 illegal firearms and thousands of live rounds were seized from a first-floor flat of a multi-storey residential building named Pratibha Manzil. Acting on specific information, personnel from the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate conducted a search with a large deployment of forces and uncovered the stockpile inside the flat.
According to police sources, in addition to the firearms and ammunition, cash and other items worth several lakhs of rupees were recovered from the premises. The weapons and ammunition have been taken into custody for forensic examination. A man identified as Litan Chakraborty was arrested from the flat during the raid, and he has been taken in for questioning.
Investigators are currently verifying the origin of the weapons and the purpose of storing them in the residential area. The building is located in a densely populated zone, and authorities are also checking whether more people are involved. The police have not yet revealed further details regarding the network or links related to the seizure.
