No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Panic gripped parts of Nagpur after a cache of explosives, including gelatin sticks and over 50 detonators, was recovered from a residential area near CA Road, located close to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh headquarters. The discovery has triggered a high alert and a multi-agency investigation into a possible security threat.
According to police officials, the explosives were found inside a bag lying in a small garden behind a house near Dosar Bhavan Chowk. The occupants of the house alerted authorities after noticing suspicious materials protruding from the bag. Initial inquiries suggest that the bag may have remained unnoticed at the location for nearly two months before being reported.
A detailed search operation led to the recovery of approximately 15 gelatin sticks, 50 to 58 detonators, and several connectors. The bomb disposal squad secured the materials and shifted them to a safe location for forensic examination. The area has since been cordoned off, with heightened security deployment due to its proximity to sensitive locations.
The site of recovery lies close to major landmarks, including a mosque and a temple, and within a short distance of the RSS headquarters, raising concerns over potential intent. Investigators are examining all possible angles, including a suspected link to a recent explosives-related incident at an industrial unit in the Katol region, though no official confirmation has been made so far.
Officials stated that the source and purpose of the explosives remain unclear, and efforts are underway to identify those responsible. The incident comes amid heightened security vigilance in different parts of the country, further intensifying concerns. Authorities have assured that the situation is under control while the investigation continues.
