A 15-year-old boy was killed after being brutally beaten with sticks and rods in Jigna village, located in Rohtas district, Bihar, on the night of 1st May. The victim, identified as Vikky Raja, was the son of Sanjay Chaudhary, a resident of Jigna. The tragic incident unfolded during a wedding celebration when a dispute arose over the wedding dance.
According to police sources, the wedding celebration at Sanjay Chaudhary's home included a dance performance, which began late at night. Around 3 AM, a group of villagers allegedly climbed onto the stage and caused disruption, while others raised concerns about the sale of country liquor at the event. This created a heated argument between the villagers and some of the wedding guests. Vikky Raja, who was attending the celebration, reportedly intervened to stop the commotion.
The confrontation escalated quickly into a physical altercation between the bride’s side and the local villagers. During the scuffle, Vikky was severely beaten with sticks and rods, leading to serious head injuries. His family immediately rushed him to the Dinara Primary Health Centre (PHC) for medical treatment. However, despite efforts to save him, the doctors declared Vikky dead on arrival.
Following the incident, the victim’s family members and relatives staged a protest in front of the Dinara police station, demanding justice. They kept the body of Vikky at the station for nearly two hours before agreeing to allow the post-mortem to take place after being assured by police officials. The police have since filed a First Information Report (FIR) based on the statement of Sanjay Chaudhary, the victim’s father. Nine individuals have been named in the FIR, and the police are currently investigating the matter.
Authorities have confirmed that the post-mortem was completed, and the body was handed over to the family. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with police working to gather further evidence. The case has highlighted concerns over law enforcement during public gatherings, especially in rural areas, as authorities seek to bring those responsible for the violent act to justice.
