A case of molestation involving a 15-year-old girl has been reported in Howrah. According to the victim's family, the girl was invited to an acquaintance's birthday function on Sunday, where she was allegedly molested. The family also claims that she was drugged, and objectionable photos were taken during the incident.
Police have arrested five individuals. The accused have been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
This incident has raised renewed concerns about women's safety in West Bengal, coming on the heels of the rape and murder case of a doctor at R.G. Kar Hospital. In addition, another molestation case in Kolkata, under the pretense of modeling, has also surfaced, adding to the rising alarm over crimes against women in the state.
