A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by five people in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, police said on Sunday.
A 15-year-old girl filed a complaint against five from her village
Informing about the incident, Aligarh SP City Kuldeep Singh Gunawat said, “A 15-year-old girl lodged a complaint against five people from her village on March 4, alleging that she was gang-raped on March 3.” “After hearing the girl's complaint, she was immediately sent to the hospital for medical examination and a case was registered against the accused under relevant sections,” added Gunawat.
The police formed a team to nab the accused
The SP said, “A team has been formed and efforts are on to nab the accused.” Further investigation is underway.
Crimes against women on the rise
Earlier on March 3, three youths were arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district, police said on Friday. Officials said the incident happened Wednesday night. They said the victim had gone to her mother's house and was on her way home when the three accused detained her.
When the accused trio found her alone in a deserted area, they offered the girl a ride home. When she refused, the accused allegedly forcibly took her to an isolated place and raped her, the girl's family told the police.
Also on February 20, the body of an eight-year-old minor girl, who had been missing for hours, was found in a swamp in Bhuvani village of Uttar Pradesh's Basti on Sunday. According to locals, Purvi (8) attended a wedding reception on Saturday night and was missing since then, later her body was found.
Responding to the incident, teams from Lalganj police station, canine team, forensic officers along with senior officers conducted an inspection at the spot. “The body has been sent for postmortem. Based on the complaint of the family members, the accused is produced. Police are deployed at the spot,” the ASP added.
A police investigation is underway in this matter. Further information is awaited.
