Tension spread in the Sanhati station area on the Bangaon–Sealdah branch after an 18-year-old woman was found dead on the railway track late Tuesday. The Bangaon GRP recovered the blood-soaked body, later identified as Bithi Mandal, a resident of Phultala Mandalpara. According to local sources, she had left home earlier in the evening, telling her family she was stepping out to eat ghugni.
Family members alleged that Bithi had an argument with two young men at the station shortly before her death. Moments later, they were informed that she had been hit by a train traveling from Sealdah to Bangaon. However, her relatives insist that the incident cannot be treated as an accident.
Claiming that Bithi’s death was intentional, the family has accused unidentified individuals of murder and demanded a thorough investigation. They have urged the administration to ensure strict punishment for those involved.
The family has stated that they will file a written complaint with the Bangaon GRP, seeking a full probe into the circumstances leading to the young woman’s death.
