Police have arrested two men for allegedly installing a CCTV camera near the Panagarh Air Force Station in West Burdwan district and recording activities inside the airbase. The arrested individuals have been identified as garage owner Munna Pandit and CCTV installer Sandeep Dubey.
According to the allegations, the camera had been mounted on a tall pole approximately 10 meters from the boundary of the air force station. Authorities claim that the device had been capturing images and activities inside the airbase for several months before the matter came to light.
Air Force officials reportedly noticed the camera a few days ago and informed Kanksa Police Station. Following the complaint, police seized the device and launched an investigation into its installation, operation and coverage area.
Preliminary findings indicate that the camera was allegedly directed toward the main entrance and interior sections of the airbase. Investigators also found that the device was capable of rotating up to 360 degrees. Both accused were taken into custody, and investigators questioned them on Thursday while examining CCTV footage and other evidence as part of the ongoing probe.
