Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Two people, including a police personnel, were killed and three others critically injured after a speeding truck rammed into and ran over a Bolero vehicle late Monday night under the Chandrakona Road Police Station area in West Medinipur district. The accident occurred near the Satbankura area on a national highway around midnight.
According to information, the Bolero was carrying four police personnel along with a driver and was heading towards Garbeta on duty from the Medinipur Police Line. A truck coming from the opposite direction allegedly collided head-on with the vehicle. The impact was so severe that the truck ran over the Bolero, leading to the death of two occupants on the spot and leaving the others trapped inside the mangled vehicle.
Local residents and police officials rushed to the scene and carried out rescue operations. The injured were pulled out after strenuous efforts and first given primary treatment before being referred to Medinipur Medical College and Hospital. Doctors declared two persons dead after examination, while the remaining three were admitted in critical condition.
The deceased were identified as NVF personnel Samir Dolai (38), a resident of Beliabera in Jhargram district, and driver Sheikh Amin (47), a resident of Panchberia in Kharagpur. Superintendent of Police Palash Chandra Dhali confirmed the fatalities and said the condition of the injured remains extremely serious. Police have launched a search to trace the absconding truck driver and initiated a detailed investigation into the accident.
