2 killed, 5 injured in head-on collision between two bikes in Hooghly

Two men died and three others were seriously injured in a head-on collision between two motorcycles near the Jhapaan Mela venue in Inchura, Balagarh, Hooghly district, around 9 PM on Tuesday. The accident took place near Fatepur Adda Mor under the jurisdiction of Magra police station.

According to police and local sources, three youths from Maltapara and Agarapara villages under Sugandha Gram Panchayat in Polba police station area were returning home after visiting the Jhapaan Mela. Their bike collided with another coming from the opposite direction, carrying two youths from Pandua, who were on their way to the same fair. The impact killed Raju Murmu (25) and Shubhajit Mandal (27) of Polba on the spot, while Mangla Tudu, also from Polba, sustained critical injuries.

The two Pandua residents on the other motorcycle were also seriously injured. All three injured individuals were taken to Chuchura Imambara Hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem. Police have registered a case and are examining the circumstances of the crash, including details of the vehicles involved and the exact sequence of events.
