On Sunday night at 8:30 pm, the Jagacha police station in Howrah district conducted a vehicle check at Bablatala on the Kona Expressway, leading to a significant drug bust. According to a statement issued by Howrah Police Commissioner Praveen Tripathi on Monday morning, the police stopped a Skoda car and found two nylon bags containing approximately 20 kg of ganja each. Two individuals, Sarojit Pramanik (29) from North 24 Parganas and Utpal Majumdar (26) from Malda district, were arrested in connection with the seizure. The initial investigation revealed that the ganja was sourced from Gadbeta in West Medinipur and was being transported to Diamond Harbor for sale.
The police have seized both the vehicle and the ganja, and further interrogation of the arrested individuals is underway to identify their associates. The authorities are intensifying efforts to dismantle the drug trafficking network involved in this operation. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by the Howrah police to curb illegal drug activities in the region.
