Tension gripped the Shamsherganj region of Murshidabad district after a bucket filled with live bombs was recovered from an area adjacent to a mango orchard in Lashkarpur village under the Dogachi Noapara Panchayat. The discovery triggered panic among residents, raising serious security concerns in the sensitive pre-poll period.
According to local sources, the bucket reportedly contained at least 20 active bombs. Villagers noticed the suspicious container while passing by the mango orchard in the morning. Upon taking a closer look, they realised that the bucket was filled with dangerous explosives, prompting immediate alarm across the locality. Residents quickly alerted the local administration about the situation. Considering the seriousness of the incident, police from Shamsherganj Police Station rushed to the spot and immediately secured the area. The region around the orchard was cordoned off and civilians were moved to a safe distance to prevent any potential harm.
Additional police forces were deployed to control the situation while the Bomb Disposal Squad was informed to handle the explosives safely. The discovery of such a large number of live bombs a day before polling has intensified tension in the area as authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
