21 year old Indian student killed by stray bullet while waiting at bus stop in Canada

A 21-year-old Indian student, Harsimrat Randhawa, tragically died after being hit by a stray bullet during a shooting incident in Hamilton, Ontario. She was waiting at a bus stop when she was caught in the crossfire between two groups firing at each other from moving vehicles.

Randhawa, a student at Mohawk College, was on her way to work when the fatal shooting occurred. Hamilton Police confirmed that officers found her with a gunshot wound to her chest. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.

The Consulate General of India in Toronto expressed deep sorrow over Randhawa’s death, stating she was an innocent bystander fatally struck during the incident. Indian authorities are in close contact with her family and are providing all necessary support.

Police said the shooting took place near Upper James and South Bend Road. CCTV footage showed a passenger from a black car firing at occupants of a white sedan. Bullets also hit a nearby residence, but fortunately, no one else was injured.

This tragic incident marks the fourth death of an Indian in Canada in the past four months. Earlier, Gurasis Singh was stabbed at his rental home, Rittika Rajput died after a tree accident, and Harshandeep Singh was shot dead while working as a security guard in Edmonton.

Authorities in Canada have launched a homicide investigation into Randhawa’s death, while Indian officials continue to urge Indian nationals to exercise caution amid rising crime incidents.
