22 bombs recovered from TMC worker’s house in Basirhat, ‘bomb factory’ angle under probe

Tension gripped Haroa in North 24 Parganas on Tuesday after police recovered 22 crude bombs from the residence of a Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker during an early morning raid. Acting on a tip-off, officers from Haroa Police Station conducted a search in the Napara area and seized a large quantity of explosives, raising serious security concerns ahead of the elections.

According to preliminary findings, the house belongs to Najibur Molla, who is locally known as an active TMC worker. Police reportedly recovered a bucket filled with fresh bombs, along with materials suspected to be used in their manufacture. Initial investigation suggests that the premises may have been used not only for storage but also for assembling explosives, prompting suspicion of a possible illegal bomb-making setup.

The area has since been cordoned off, and a bomb disposal squad has been deployed to safely defuse the explosives and conduct further checks. The recovery has triggered political tension in the region, with questions being raised over the intended use of the bombs. Police have initiated a detailed probe to determine the source, purpose, and potential links behind the incident.
