On Monday morning, 22 live ball bombs were recovered from an abandoned house in Dhuritola village, Kaliaganj, Malda district, creating a tense situation in the area. The house had been vacant for the past ten months, with the owner and his family residing in another police jurisdiction within the district. Local residents alerted the authorities after noticing three suspicious drums placed inside the deserted property.
Kaliaganj police immediately reached the site and inspected the drums, discovering 22 active ball bombs. Following the discovery, a large crowd gathered in the vicinity. Police swiftly cordoned off the area to ensure public safety and prevent any untoward incident.
The fire department and bomb disposal squad were called to the location, and under their supervision, all 22 bombs were safely removed to a secure location and neutralized. Authorities have confirmed no casualties occurred, and investigations into the source and motive behind the explosives are ongoing. Security measures in the area have been intensified, and residents have been advised to report any suspicious activity immediately.
