In a harrowing incident, a 22-wheeler lorry veered off National Highway 31 in the Dashdarga area of Jalpaiguri, plummeting into a roadside pit while en route from Assam to Siliguri. Local residents were startled by a sudden loud noise, discovering the lorry overturned by the road.
Remarkably, both the driver and passenger survived the accident, though allegations of their inebriation have surfaced. Prompt action by the Jalpaiguri Kotwali police station ensued after the incident was reported, with officers reaching the scene to assess the situation. A crane was employed to lift the lorry, and an official investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the accident.
