Seizure of huge amounts of cash are being reported from several parts of country. The latest being from West Bengal's Paschim Medinipur district. As per latest inputs, 24 lakhs have been recovered so far from BJP leader Prasanta Bera's car at Khukurda Naka under Daspur Police Station area.
The cash, recovered from Bera's house are in 500 denominations and were kept in a jute bag in Bera's WagonR car. Such amount of cash in a political leader's house dueing Lok Sabha elections has raised several speculation. Was this cash kept for inflluencing voters? Or it was a "payment" for something? Such questions are hot in the political market.
Bera is reportedly being interrogated by the police. Meanwhile, citizens of India will vote in the 6th Phase om May 25th. Among all the seats which will go under voting tomorrow, West Bengal's Bankura, Bishnupur, Ghatal, Jhargram, Kanthi, Purulia, Tamluk and Medinipur constituencies are in the list. Such huge cash seizure one day ahead of polling has raised many eyebrows.
Earlier this week, over 55 Crore cash was recoverd from Agra. recently, Jharkhand minister Alamgir Alam was arrested by ED after cash recovery from personal secretary's maid. On May 7, the probe agency seized nearly ₹36.75 crore crore during raids and later arrested Sanjiv Lal and Lal's domestic help Jahangir Alam.
