26-year-old Indian student shot dead in Washington D.C. while delivering courier

A 26-year-old Indian student from Hyderabad, Koyyada Ravi Teja, was fatally shot in Washington D.C., United States, on Sunday while returning from a courier delivery. Local police have launched an investigation to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the shooting.

Ravi Teja, a resident of Green Hills Colony in Rama Krishna Puram, Hyderabad, moved to the United States in March 2022 to pursue a Master’s degree. After completing his studies, he was actively searching for full-time employment and working part-time to support himself. His family confirmed that he was on a courier delivery job when the fatal attack occurred.

Preliminary reports state that Ravi Teja sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene. The exact circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, and authorities are yet to provide further updates about the attackers or the motive.

The tragic news reached Ravi Teja’s family in Hyderabad early on Monday morning. His father, K. Chandra Mouli, expressed immense grief, saying his son had gone to the U.S. with high aspirations for a better future. Relatives, neighbors, and well-wishers have gathered at the family’s home in Chaitanyapuri to offer their condolences and support.

This incident has heightened concerns over the safety of Indian nationals abroad. It comes just weeks after another Indian student, Sai Teja Nukarapu, was shot dead near Chicago while working at a gas station. The Indian consulate in the United States has assured Ravi Teja’s family of assistance and called for immediate action against the culprits.
