In a significant development, security forces conducted the largest anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh in a decade, resulting in the killing of 29 Naxalites in the Kanker area. The operation, launched following five specific inputs, saw a joint effort by Kanker District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Border Security Force (BSF). This operation marks a milestone as it achieved a high number of Naxalite casualties without any loss on the security forces' side, making it a unique endeavor.
The encounter, which took place near Binagunda-Koragutta forests of Chhotabetiya police station area, resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including AK 47 rifles, INSAS, SLR/Carbine, and .303 rifles. Among the deceased Naxalites were top leaders Shankar Rao and Lalita, both from the DVCM, North Bastar Division. This operation signifies a robust response to the Naxal menace in Chhattisgarh, with 79 Naxalites killed in separate encounters in the Bastar region alone this year.
