Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
In a targeted operation in the Girja Mor area under Asansol South Police Station, three individuals were arrested after police recovered 34 grams of brown sugar and ₹1.5 lakh in cash. The operation, based on a secret tip-off, involved officials from the Narcotics Department who acted swiftly after observing suspicious activity.
The police intercepted a Toto (auto-rickshaw) carrying the three suspects and conducted a search. The recovered narcotics and cash led to the immediate arrest of all occupants. Preliminary investigations identified the accused as residents of the Railpar area, with one of them, MD Nawab, reportedly being transported home by the Toto driver after claiming to feel unwell.
Authorities revealed that prior intelligence from the Narcotics Department had indicated illegal activity, prompting the swift action. The arrests were made red-handed, highlighting the effectiveness of police coordination and intelligence-driven operations.
The police are continuing a thorough investigation into the matter to identify the source and any broader networks involved in the trafficking of narcotics in Asansol. Additional interrogations are underway to determine the full extent of the case.
