During the celebration of Bengali New Year in Bengal, the atmosphere in North Kolkata's Niranjan Nagar turned grim as the police discovered the decomposed bodies of three individuals from the same house on Sunday morning.
Identified as Shankar Haldar (70), his son Bappa Halder, and grandson Verna Halder, the bodies were found in different rooms of the house, prompting an investigation into the possibility of murder-suicide. Police have initiated a suo motu case, aiming to unravel the mystery behind the tragic incident and ascertain whether foul play was involved.
According to police sources, neighbors raised concerns after detecting a foul smell emanating from the house on Niranjan Sen Sarani. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers found one young man bleeding on the floor of one room, while the bodies of another young man and an elderly man were discovered in another room. Initial assessments suggest that Bappa, the son, may have taken his own life after allegedly killing his father and son. However, with Bappa found with injuries to the back of his head, authorities are delving deeper into the circumstances surrounding the incident, leaving the community in a state of tension and disbelief.
