Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
Train services on the Howrah–Tarakeswar line were disrupted for nearly three hours early Wednesday morning after a pantograph malfunction in a down-line train near Singur in Hooghly district. The technical fault, reported near Gate No. 13, led to multiple trains being halted at different stations, severely affecting morning rail traffic.
The disruption caused significant inconvenience to daily commuters, particularly office-goers and students. Passengers reported long waiting times at stations, with some stating they had been stranded for over an hour without any train movement. Several commuters travelling towards Konnagar and Bandel were among the worst affected as services remained suspended during peak morning hours.
Railway officials reached the site promptly and initiated repair work to restore operations. According to Eastern Railway, the pantograph fault was rectified, and train services on the down line were gradually resumed. Authorities indicated that normal operations have since been restored following the technical fix.
