Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Three people, including the suspected gunman, were killed in a shooting at a hockey rink in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities confirmed that three other victims are hospitalised in critical condition following the incident at Dennis M. Lynch Arena, where a youth hockey game had been scheduled.
Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves told reporters that investigators believe the shooting was a targeted attack stemming from a family dispute. The shooting prompted a heavy police response around the arena, located a few miles outside Providence. Roads surrounding the venue were shut down as officers secured the scene. Helicopters were seen flying overhead while emergency responders attended to the injured.
Outside the arena, emotional scenes unfolded as tearful families and high school hockey players, some still in uniform, embraced one another before boarding buses to leave the area. The incident has left the local community in shock.
Authorities have not yet disclosed further details about the sequence of events leading to the gunfire. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the deadly attack.
