Three members of a family, including a 10-year-old girl, died in Chakbahadurpur village under Krishnapur Gram Panchayat in Baisnabnagar police station area of Malda district. According to police and local sources, the deceased were identified as Bulti Mandal (35), her daughter Pyu Mandal (10), and her mother-in-law Pushpa Mandal (65).
Relatives and villagers alleged that nine members of the family fell ill after drinking water from a tube well installed at their residence. Six members were treated at a local health facility and later discharged, while three died in successive incidents. Family members said the condition of the six others is currently stable.
Baisnabnagar police along with block administration officials reached the residence to investigate the deaths. Police confirmed the deaths but did not specify the exact cause, stating that the matter is under inquiry.
