A night of drinking turned violent in Kolkata’s Dumdum area late Friday when a group of three youths opened fire at a bar manager during an argument. The incident occurred in the Maidankal locality, sparking panic among patrons and residents nearby.
According to initial reports, the dispute began over alcohol-related issues inside the bar. Heated words soon escalated into gunfire, leaving the manager injured. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the firing.
Police from Dumdum police station rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. One accused has been arrested, while a manhunt is underway to trace the other two. Locals say the gunshots created chaos in the area and left many terrified.
The incident has reignited concerns over security and alcohol-related violence in Kolkata’s nightlife zones. Officials are reviewing CCTV footage and statements from witnesses to track the remaining suspects and establish the motive.
