As the 2024 Lok Sabha election is nearing its end, the past horrors of Post-Poll violence in West Bengal are still in the minds of residents as well as the authorities. To ensure no such incident gets repeated in the state, Election Commission has declared that 320 companies of central forces will remain in Bengal. As per the inputs of Central Intelligence Agencies, there are possibilities of violence in the state after the polls.
According to the MHA sources, after the declaration of Lok Sabha election results on June 4, jawans will be deployed in the state for about 15 more days. It has been decided that 320 companies of central forces including CRPF, CISF, BSF and SSB will be deployed in selected areas of the state.
It is being said by the central sources that the forces could be kept for more than 15 days depending on the situation. This information has also been given to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
As per MHA officials, in the last one year, not only incidents of post-poll violence but also major incidents of deterioration in law and order have been taking place in West Bengal.
There have also been allegations that officials of central investigating agencies like ED in Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas and NIA in Bhupatinagar in East Midnapore have been attacked. Therefore, the Center wants to keep forces in West Bengal even after the voting is over.
