5,000 Pakistani soldiers resign amid fear of Indian retaliation
The Government Railway Police (GRP) seized a total of 58 kilograms of dry ganja in two separate operations at Agartala Railway Station, officials confirmed on Friday. The seized narcotics were found in abandoned bags during routine security checks. Investigations are ongoing to trace the supply chain and identify those involved in smuggling activities.
The first seizure took place on Friday when GRP personnel discovered six unclaimed bags containing 37 kg of ganja at the railway station. Following standard procedures, the contraband was confiscated, and an official statement from the GRP estimated its market value at ₹5.55 lakh. No arrests have been made so far, and efforts are underway to determine the source and intended recipients of the illegal consignment.
On March 12, in a similar operation, security personnel found seven gunny bags near the Jirania-end bushes of the station. The bags contained 21 kg of dry ganja, valued at approximately ₹3.15 lakh. Officials suspect the narcotics were intended for smuggling to other locations. The contraband was taken into custody, and an investigation was launched to track its origin.
Authorities have intensified security measures at railway stations to prevent the transport of illegal substances. Surveillance and routine checks have been strengthened, and officials are analyzing whether the two hauls are linked to a larger smuggling network. Further inquiries are being conducted to identify individuals or groups involved in trafficking operations.
The GRP has urged passengers and railway staff to report any suspicious activities. Investigators are working to establish connections between the seized consignments and any known drug syndicates operating in the region. No further details have been disclosed as the investigation progresses.
