Tensions escalated in Farakka on Wednesday following allegations of harassment in the name of Special Intensive Review (SIR). During a hearing camp, vandalism reportedly occurred at the BDO office, prompting swift police action.
Following an FIR filed by the BDO of Farakka Block, police arrested four individuals in connection with the incident. On Thursday, all four accused were presented before the Jangipur Court, reports said. The arrests have been viewed as a key step in restoring law and order in the area.
Although the incident caused significant unrest, the situation is now under control. Police presence at the BDO office has been increased, and the SD officer of Jangipur visited the office Thursday morning to inspect the damage and assess the situation firsthand.
