4 arrested in Bengal with 10 kg explosives, firearms

The police have arrested four individuals from an interstate firearms smuggling racket, with two residents of Nadia and two from Murshidabad, and have recovered 2 pistols, 10 kg of explosives, and illegal firearms in Palashi. Detectives suspect that the smuggled arms and explosives were intended for use in the upcoming Panchayat elections, leading to increased apprehension of violence.

The police have been active since the bomb-hurling incident at Kaliganj police in Nadia, conducting continuous search operations in the area. Kaliganj police have already arrested four arms smugglers, as four individuals carrying weapons were found during a police patrol on Saturday.

The police seized 2 pistols, 5 rounds of bullets, and 10 kg of explosives after an interrogation revealed that the four individuals were connected to the interstate smuggling gang. However, investigators are working to uncover the mastermind behind the operation and who is responsible for the smuggling of arms to different areas.

The village of Nadia has been in the headlines for the past few weeks due to the bombing incident at Molandi in Kaliganj, where five people, including the OC, were injured. At that time, 27 fresh bombs were recovered in three drums and defused. The administration is concerned about the law and order situation in the area, with a search operation initiated in the region.

Within 48 hours of the incident, a fresh bomb drum was found in Mohandi village in Kaliganj. With the Panchayat elections approaching, the authorities are maintaining a special vigil in the border areas to prevent violence and maintain law and order.
