NIA searches Saokat Molla’s home and party office, son questioned in Bhangar blast case
Four personnel, including members of a central forces team, were injured after their vehicle collided head-on with a truck on National Highway 19 in West Bengal’s Hooghly district early Monday morning. The accident took place in the Gurap police station area, severely damaging the vehicle and leaving the occupants trapped inside.
Police personnel from Gurap station rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information and carried out rescue operations. The injured, including three jawans and the driver, were taken to a private hospital in Bardhaman, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Officials indicated that their condition is stable.
According to police sources, the team belonged to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and was travelling towards Morgram in Birbhum for election duty. The team, which included a medical officer and a senior commandant, had arrived by train from Gujarat and boarded a Scorpio vehicle from Contai in East Midnapore before the accident occurred on the highway.
The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the vehicle completely mangled. After the accident, the truck driver fled the scene with the vehicle. Police have registered a case and launched a search operation to trace the driver, while an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident is currently underway.
