4 rounds fired at Babughat over lorry rate dispute, 2 arrested

Around 2:00 AM last night, a firing incident occurred on Strand Road near Kadamtala Ghat, Kolkata reportedly due to a price dispute over a sand-loaded lorry.

The conflict arose when the lorry's price, initially agreed upon at Rs 33,000 over the phone, was reduced to Rs 28,000 by the buyer, Tinku, at Kohinoor Market, Kareya. The lorry driver, following instructions from the complainant, decided to return to Babughat rather than accept the lower price.

Tinku, along with 3-4 associates, including Arif, Asif, and Danish, pursued the lorry to Babughat, where a heated altercation ensued, escalating into a physical fight. Cornered by other lorry drivers, Tinku allegedly fired four rounds before fleeing the scene.

However, Asif and Arif were intercepted and arrested by the police under Maidan PS, Case No-36, dated 02.09.24, under sections 118(1)109/3(5) BNS and 25/27 Arms Act.
