"Kolkata to get Water Metro connectivity," says Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari
A four-year-old girl succumbed to a fever confirmed by tests as NS1 positive, indicating a death due to Dengue infection in North Kolkata. The child was a resident of Bartala in Ward No. 11, an area overseen by Deputy Mayor and Member of the Mayor-in-Council (Health), Atin Ghosh.
The deceased child was identified as Adreesha Poddar. According to family sources, Adreesha was first struck by fever on October 20. Although the fever initially subsided, her condition deteriorated rapidly soon after. She was subsequently admitted to a private hospital in Beleghata for treatment.
The family reported a deceptive sense of stability, claiming that Adreesha’s platelet count was still a healthy 180,000 as recently as Tuesday afternoon. However, her condition took a sharp turn for the worse by Tuesday evening. She was quickly transferred to another private facility located on the Eastern Bypass for advanced care, but tragically passed away on Wednesday afternoon.
The KMC Health Department has officially confirmed that the minor’s death was directly caused by the Dengue infection, with the NS1 positive report serving as conclusive evidence.
