Five people died and three others sustained injuries after a four-wheeler ran over them near a petrol pump in Dharampur in Himachal Pradesh's Solan district on Tuesday.
According to an eyewitness, the injured were immediately given first aid before being taken to hospital, the report said.
"A four-wheeler rammed into a queue of nine persons, leaving five dead and three injured," said Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ashok Kumar Rana, adding that two seriously injured persons have been referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh.
The deceased persons have been identified as Guddu Yadav, Raja, Nippu, Moti Lal Yadav and Sunny Deval, police said, adding that a case has been registered against the driver identified as Rajesh.
