Reconstruction of crime scene in Kasba as probe intensifies in Kolkata college student rape case
Five people were injured in a head-on collision between two four-wheelers on the Barrackpore-Kalyani Expressway near the Mathurapur area early Thursday morning. The accident occurred when one car, travelling from Kalyani towards Dum Dum Airport, collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction. According to local sources, both vehicles were moving at high speed at the time of the incident.
The injured individuals were rescued from the vehicles and taken to the Barrackpore Dr. B.N. Basu Sub-Divisional Hospital. Hospital authorities confirmed that all five are undergoing treatment and their condition is stable. The identity of the injured persons and details of the vehicles involved have not yet been officially released.
Despite recent safety measures introduced by the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate, including increased patrolling and traffic signage on the expressway, accidents have continued to occur. Local residents report that speeding remains a common issue on this route, particularly in stretches like Mathurapur where visibility is relatively low during early hours.
