In a tragic incident, five Kanwar Yatra pilgrims were electrocuted to death in Jharkhand's Latehar district on the morning of August 1. The accident occurred when their vehicle came into contact with a high-tension overhead wire. Three others were injured in the incident.
The mishap took place at Tam Tam Tola in the Balumath police station area around 3 a.m. The pilgrims were on their way back from the Baba Baidyanath temple in Deoghar when their vehicle hit an electricity pole, causing the high-tension overhead wire to fall on it.
"A high-tension overhead wire fell on their vehicle. Five people were killed and three others injured," said Balumath sub-divisional police officer Ashutosh Kumar Satyam. The injured were promptly admitted to a hospital for treatment, police added.
