Five persons were detained from New Town’s Shapoorji and Sukhabrishti complexes in West Bengal in connection with the murder of Chandan Mishra at Patna’s Paras Hospital. The operation was carried out on Saturday by teams from Bihar Police and the Special Task Force (STF) following inputs about the accused hiding in the area.
According to police sources, the accused had rented accommodation in the Shapoorji area to take shelter after the incident. Investigators traced their location using mobile tower data linked to individuals who had helped arrange the flats. Based on this, a raid was conducted and five individuals were picked up for questioning.
The operation included raids on two flats in the Sukhabrishti complex of Rajarhat’s New Town. Four persons connected to the Patna murder case were taken for interrogation. The arrested individuals are being questioned to verify their role in the shooting. Police have not disclosed the identities of the detained individuals or confirmed if they include the shooters.
The case involves the murder of Chandan Mishra, a criminal from Buxar, who was shot dead inside Patna’s Paras Hospital. Five armed men had entered the hospital premises and opened fire, killing him on the spot. Following the incident, Bihar Police launched multiple operations across states to locate the accused.
ADG (Headquarters) Kundan Krishnan stated on Friday that the murder was carried out by members of the Sheru Singh gang. Sheru Singh is currently lodged in West Bengal’s Purulia jail. According to the ADG, Chandan and Sheru were once involved in joint criminal activities but later became rivals. Sheru Singh was earlier convicted in the 2017 Rajendra Keshari murder case in Buxar.
