Five wagons of a goods train derailed on Friday morning on the Howrah-New Jalpaiguri railway route. The derailment occurred near Kumedpur station in the Harishchandrapur area of Malda district. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in the accident.
According to reports, the oil-laden freight train was on the way from New Jalpaiguri to Katihar. On receiving the news, railway officials from Katihar Division arrived at the spot. With this, now 3 railway accidents have taken place in Northern Bengal, two of them took place earlier in Rangapani.
The accident involving a goods train and the Kanchanjunga Express in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal on June 17 left 10 passengers dead and 43 others injured.
