Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 hits ₹100 crore worldwide on day 2, trails behind Singham Again
A five-year-old boy named Dheeraj tragically died in Bhuvaneshwari Nagar, Bengaluru, after consuming stale cake, with his parents, Balaraj and Nagalakshmi, hospitalized in critical condition. The incident unfolded on Monday, following a family dinner where they shared a cake brought home by Balaraj, a Swiggy delivery executive, after a customer canceled the order three days earlier.
After eating the cake, all three family members experienced severe symptoms, including vomiting and diarrhea. Dheeraj could not be saved and died shortly after. His parents were rushed to KIMS Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Authorities suspect food poisoning but are investigating other potential causes, including the possibility of a suicide attempt linked to the cake consumption. The K P Agrahara police have launched a full investigation, collecting the remaining food items for forensic testing to determine the exact cause of illness.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) S Girish stated that initial findings suggest food poisoning due to stale food. Meanwhile, Swiggy has expressed condolences to the family and confirmed cooperation with the ongoing investigation, reiterating their commitment to food safety standards, requiring all restaurant partners to possess valid FSSAI licenses.
