Another KMC councillor, Biswajit Mondal arrested, after woman alleges molestation and threats
Five people were killed in a late-night road accident in Bengaluru after a speeding car jumped a divider and rammed into a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus. Police said the Tata Indica carrying five passengers lost control before crossing into the opposite lane and colliding head-on with the bus.
The impact was severe and four occupants aged between 17 and 22 died on the spot. The fifth passenger was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to injuries. The car was completely mangled in the crash.
All 43 passengers travelling on the bus escaped safely and were shifted to another vehicle to continue their journey. Authorities have collected blood samples and are verifying backgrounds to determine whether alcohol consumption played a role in the accident.
Police have launched an investigation and are examining speeding and other possible causes behind the crash. Families of the victims said the youths were friends and had stepped out together before the fatal incident.
