NCP leader Baba Siddique shot multiple times and dies in Mumbai Hospital
The forest department team captured the fifth wolf under 'Operation Bhediya' in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. The captured wolf was part of a pack of six that had been terrorizing residents, having killed 10 people, including nine children, over the past one and a half months.
The capture took place near the Ghaghara River, where another wolf was caught previously. Bahraich remains on high alert across 35 villages with just one wolf still roaming.
The forest department has employed various strategies to control the situation, including nightly patrols and using elephant dung and urine to repel the wolves. This unexpected wave of wolf attacks has left experts puzzled, as wolves are generally considered docile.
However, some suggest that the destruction of a wolf den during a flood, which may have killed their cubs, could be a trigger for their aggressive behavior.
The Uttar Pradesh government has officially declared the wolf attacks a ‘wildlife disaster’ and continues to work toward capturing the final wolf to ensure the safety of the villagers.
