CM Mamata pushes Aparajita Bill as TMC MPs urge President’s approval
A tragic incident occurred at Paranda Railway Station in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district, where at least 8 people have been confirmed dead after passengers aboard the Pushpak Express, fearing a fire, jumped onto the tracks. The alarm was triggered by smoke emanating from the train's wheels, leading to panic among passengers. In response, several passengers pulled the emergency chain and attempted to evacuate the train.
As passengers hurriedly exited the train, they were struck by the Karnataka Express, which was traveling in the opposite direction on an adjacent track. Railway officials confirmed that the victims were hit by the oncoming train while they were on the tracks. Many of the injured passengers are reported to be in critical condition, and the death toll may rise as more information becomes available.
Emergency services and railway staff were immediately dispatched to the site to assist the victims and manage the aftermath of the accident. Several injured passengers were transported to nearby hospitals, with some reportedly in severe condition. The scene remains under control, though the accident has caused a significant disruption to train services in the area.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the panic, specifically regarding the false fire alarm. The authorities are also reviewing the safety protocols and procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future. The railway teams continue to work on clearing the tracks and ensuring the safety of passengers.
