Seven people were injured, with one passenger hospitalized, after a Scoot flight from Singapore to Guangzhou encountered severe turbulence on Friday. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, operating Flight TR100, hit turbulence as it approached its destination but landed safely at 9:10 a.m. local time.
Scoot confirmed that the turbulence occurred during the flight’s approach to Guangzhou. The airline stated, "We can confirm that four passengers and three crew members received medical assistance immediately upon arrival." One passenger was hospitalized for further observation.
The flight, which departed from Singapore at around 5:45 a.m., experienced a sudden drop of 25 feet midway through, as shown by FlightRadar24 data. The plane quickly regained its altitude and speed before landing uneventfully.
