A tragic helicopter crash near Kedarnath has claimed seven lives, including that of an infant, early Sunday morning. The Aryan Aviation chopper, flying from Kedarnath to Guptkashi, lost signal shortly after taking off around 5:20 AM. The wreckage was found near Gaurikund in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district.
The passengers included Captain Rajveer Singh Chauhan (pilot), Rajkumar Jaiswal (41), Shradha Jaiswal (35), their 23-month-old child Kashi—all residents of Maharashtra—along with Vikram (46) from Rudraprayag, and Vinod Dev (66) and Tusti Singh (29) from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh.
Local authorities said the chopper encountered sudden adverse weather conditions in the valley. Despite the pilot's efforts to navigate out, the helicopter crashed. Rescue teams including the SDRF and district administration reached the site after locals reported smoke rising from the hills.
This is the fifth helicopter-related incident on the Char Dham route in less than 40 days, raising serious concerns about flight safety in the area during pilgrimage season.
