Night blaze behind Sealdah station burns down several food stalls
A 7-year-old boy, Afzal, was murdered in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district, where he was stabbed with scissors by his 19-year-old neighbor, Shavez, on Thursday. The incident occurred in Adampur village, where Afzal was last seen around 10 am in the company of Shavez. After Afzal failed to return home, his mother began searching for him, and the family lodged a missing persons report on Friday when he remained unaccounted for.
Following the complaint, the police took Shavez into custody. During interrogation, Shavez confessed to the crime and stated that he killed Afzal "just like that," without a specific motive. He also led the police to the boy’s body, which was found in a sugarcane field adjacent to a jungle in the village. The body was recovered by the authorities and sent for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death. The scissors used in the murder were also recovered from the scene of the crime.
Shavez, a known drug addict, reportedly had no previous criminal history. The police confirmed that he was a neighbor of the victim and had no clear explanation for why he targeted Afzal. According to officials, Shavez had been under the influence of drugs when the crime occurred. The investigation is ongoing, with the police focusing on collecting more evidence to understand the circumstances surrounding the murder and any potential connections between the victim and the accused.
The police are also examining Shavez’s drug addiction history and trying to determine if there were any underlying factors that contributed to the murder. Local authorities have assured the community that they are working diligently to uncover the full details of the crime. The case remains under investigation, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the case, with a focus on understanding the reasons behind the senseless act of violence and any possible prior interactions between Afzal and Shavez. The police confirmed the details on Saturday, and continue to gather evidence to build a comprehensive understanding of the incident.
