Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
A tragic accident occured today morning at Hastings, Kolkata, resulting in the death of a seven-year-old girl named Gudiya. The child was playing in her favorite spot under a lamppost around 7 AM when a heavy lighting fixture suddenly detached and struck her directly on the head. The impact caused a severe hemorrhage, leaving her unconscious on the road. Despite the swift arrival of the Hastings Police, the young girl had already succumbed to her injuries before medical help could be provided.
Eyewitnesses have pointed toward a severe lack of maintenance as the primary cause of this fatal accident. Reports suggest that while a standard streetlight fixture is secured by four nuts, the one involved in the incident allegedly had three nuts missing or improperly installed. A single nut was reportedly recovered from the scene by investigators, fueling allegations that negligence by municipal authorities led to the structural failure of the lamppost.
The local police have recovered the body and shifted it to SSKM Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Following the legal formalities and the autopsy, the body will be handed over to the grieving family members. Gudiya’s parents and relatives are currently in a state of shock, as the very spot where she played every day turned into a site of a horrific tragedy due to a seemingly avoidable mechanical failure.
