Parade begins at Red Road to celebrate India's 76th Republic Day
A tragic incident unfolded in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district when a seven-year-old girl lost her life and her aunt, in her 30s, sustained injuries due to an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) blast in Saranda Forest. The incident occurred after the young girl accidentally stepped on a pressure-triggered explosive planted by Maoists, as reported by local authorities.
The girl had ventured into the forest with her mother, aunt, and another companion to collect firewood from the Tirilposi-Thalkobad stretch of the forest. Local sources indicate that the IED was likely placed by Maoists with the intent to target security forces operating in the area.
The blast caused severe injuries to the girl’s legs, leading to her death despite the efforts of locals who rushed her to the Manoharpur community health centre. Unfortunately, she was declared dead upon arrival. Her aunt, who was also injured in the incident, is receiving treatment for her wounds.
