West Bengal witnesses a voter turnout of 70.19% by 3 pm in the polling across eight Lok Sabha constituencies during the sixth phase on Saturday. Polling commenced at 7 am in Tamluk, Kanthi, Ghatal, Jhargram, Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, and Bishnupur constituencies and will continue until 6 pm. Bishnupur recorded the highest polling at 73.55%, followed by Jhargram (72.26%), Tamluk (71.63%), Kanthi (71.36%), Ghatal (71.34%), Medinipur (67.91%), Bankura (67.41%), and Purulia (66.06%).
However, the election office in West Bengal reported 1,646 complaints by 1 pm, with sporadic incidents of violence reported from some areas in the eight Lok Sabha constituencies. Despite the relatively high voter turnout, challenges persist with complaints indicating potential irregularities or disruptions during the polling process, underscoring the need for continued vigilance and security measures to ensure fair and peaceful elections.
