At least eight people lost their lives and several others sustained injuries after a vehicle fell into a deep gorge at Chandshali Ghat in Maharashtra’s Nandurbar district on Friday. The accident occurred under the jurisdiction of Shahada police, triggering panic among locals and prompting an immediate rescue response.
According to Nandurbar Police, teams were dispatched to the site soon after the incident was reported. Rescue personnel began recovery operations to retrieve the victims and assist the injured. The severely damaged vehicle was found at the base of the gorge, making rescue efforts challenging.
Officials said the cause of the accident is yet to be determined. Preliminary inputs suggest that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle while navigating the steep ghat section. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are working to identify the victims.
